Migrating from Magento 1 to OpenMage moves you to software that continues to be supported, which means that security vulnerabilities are addressed and newer server software is supported. Unlike migrating to Magento 2, OpenMage is a continuation of Magento 1, so you can continue to use your existing themes and extensions.
